How to Declutter Every Room Using AI: The 5-Prompt System Professional Organizers Don't Want You to Know
The room-by-room AI organization guide that turns chaos into calm in just one weekend.
Reading time: 12 minutes | Organizing time: One weekend | Life changed: Forever
Introduction
I spent the first 38 years of my life as a slob.
I’m not proud of it. But it’s a fact. Every room in my house was a disaster. The kitchen sink (and counters, because the sink was full) were always piled high with plates, cups, and bowls that were so dirty, for so long, that they’d turned into science experiments. My office desk? Absolutely covered in dirty dishes. My car could’ve been a featured segment on Hoarders. And the less I tell you about the bathroom, the better off we’ll both be.
Why did I live like this? There were probably many reasons, but I ultimately boiled it down to two key things. One of them was obvious. I discovered the second while going through years of therapy.
I was lazy and a procrastinator.
I had zero self-worth. In my mind, I had no value, either to myself or to the people around me. My brain told me I didn’t deserve good things. I’d look around the house and I’d think, “Yeah, this tracks. This is exactly the kind of space someone like me should have.”
A Vicious Circle
Living this way isn’t just gross. Science has shown that being surrounded by physical clutter:
Increases cortisol (the stress hormone) levels
Disrupts your sleep
Makes it much harder to focus
I didn’t know any of this back when I lived this way. Even if I had known, I don’t know that it would’ve made much difference in the way I lived.
But then I started dating the woman who is now my wife. She is the polar opposite of me in so many ways. She is tidy and organized. I knew this about her the first time she came to visit me (I lived in Vegas at the time). I knew I needed to clean my apartment badly, so she wouldn’t walk in, take one look around the place, turn around, and head back to the airport, never to be seen again.
Being me, I waited until a couple of hours before her flight landed to start cleaning. I obviously didn’t come close to finishing. And to her credit, she didn’t flee immediately upon walking through my front door. She actually cleaned the place. For me. It was a life-altering moment for me because, for the first time, I was embarrassed at the way I’d been living.
I had to change.
It’s a Process
I didn’t change my habits overnight. It took a long time and a lot of work. And I’m still not perfect about picking up after myself. But I have come a long way from that embarrassing night in Vegas. A long way. My wife and I keep a neat, tidy home, and we are proud of that. When friends come over, they often remark about how peaceful our home feels. And it does feel peaceful.
But the most significant, positive effect of this change in my habits? It’s inside me. My self-esteem is high. My brain, which doesn’t see clutter and dirt everywhere I look, feels less cluttered and sharper.
It’s Your Turn
I want you to experience the incredible effects that come with living in a clean, organized home. But where do you start? Even if your home is already somewhat tidy, it can still be overwhelming trying to figure out where to start.
That’s why I built this system. It’s designed to be incredibly easy, and will give you everything you need to organize and tidy your home in one weekend.
Getting Started
Copy and paste Prompt 1, the first step in this system, into ChatGPT (or your favorite AI tool). It will interview you and ask you some questions about your home, then generate some text.
You will copy and paste that text into your preferred word processor or text editor, then replace any text in brackets ([LIKE THIS]) with the requested information. Copy your revised prompt and paste it back into the same ChatGPT window.
Repeat these steps for Prompts 2-5.
Let’s get started!

7. On a scale of 1-10, how cluttered would you say your home is right now?
